    Purpose

Kraken is a MOOSE-based multiphysics simulation platform for soft materials and robots

    Introduction

The accurate modeling and simulation of soft, hyperelastic and deformable materials is critical to many fields of study such as biological engineering, medicine, and soft robotics. Existing simulation tools are often closed source, unwieldy, or lacking critical features for accurate simulation. Kraken is an open-source Multiphysics Finite Element Method (FEM) software package that is built off of Idaho Nation Lab’s MOOSE software. It has the capacity to quickly and accurately simulate a wide variety of different types of physical processes that might be associated with soft bodies. Furthermore, the framework is open source and easily extensible, making it easy for end users to implement additional custom physics.
